What happened in the room

First fully online workshop delivered via Zoom and Gather Town, with 40 volunteers supporting participants in virtual hands-on sessions.
Three concurrent learning tracks: Python fundamentals, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Python for Machine Learning.
Provided 40GB of data to participants facing connectivity issues, ensuring internet access wouldn’t block learning.
Despite internet outages, power cuts, and the challenge of building confidence online, 80% of participants completed daily coding tasks.
One mother completed coding tasks with her daughter “shouting in her ear sometimes” — tutors celebrated her determination.
Participants built book recommender systems, Spotify data visualisations, and family-tree implementations as final projects.
